How to Earn 10,000 Microsoft Rewards Points Every Month, Fast

For years, a big Microsoft Rewards month came down to one routine: max out your PC searches, max out your phone searches, repeat. That routine no longer works in the US. Microsoft replaced the old Level 1 and Level 2 system with three tiers, Member, Silver and Gold, and folded PC and mobile searches into a single shared daily cap.

The good news is that 10,000 points a month is still within reach. You just get there by a different road. Instead of grinding more searches, you lock in Gold status, collect the monthly bonuses that come with it, keep a few streaks alive, and let Xbox fill the last gap. Ten thousand points is worth roughly $9 to $10 in Xbox or Microsoft gift cards, which adds up to more than $100 a year for about ten minutes a day.

How Microsoft Rewards works in 2026

Every account now sits in one of three levels. Your level decides how many points your searches can earn each day and how large your monthly bonuses are. Here is how they compare in the US:

Two rules shape everything that follows. First, each qualifying search is worth 5 points, and your laptop and phone draw from the same daily allowance. There is no longer a separate mobile bucket to fill. Second, the level, Default Search and Star bonuses are paid within the first five days of the following month, and you have to claim them on your dashboard, usually within about 30 days, or they expire.

Point values and features differ from country to country, so treat the numbers here as a US baseline and check your own Rewards dashboard for the figures in your market.

Why Gold is the whole game

Add up only the points you fully control in a 30-day month (daily search cap, Daily Set, level bonus and Default Search Bonus) and the gap between tiers is stark:

A perfect month at Member tops out around 1,800 fixed points. The exact same daily effort at Gold is worth about 4,950, nearly three times as much, before a single variable bonus arrives. Gold also raises the ceiling on the Bing Star Bonus from 500 to 3,500. There is no realistic path to 10,000 points without it, so every step below starts from the assumption that you get there and stay there.

The 10,000-point monthly blueprint

This is what a 10,000-point month looks like for a Gold member in the US. The fixed rows are fully in your hands. The variable and optional rows depend on how Microsoft scores your activity, what promotions are running, and whether you play on Xbox.

The four fixed rows add up to 4,950 points. The other half comes from bonuses that reward consistency, which is why the steps below care as much about how you earn as how much.

Eight steps to 10,000 points a month

1. Unlock Gold as early in the month as you can

   Multiplies everything else

   Gold asks for two things in the same calendar month: 750 points earned, and two level-up activities. The current level-up list includes a seven-day Bing or Bing app streak, seven days of Daily Set completion, using Bing as your default search engine for 14 days, an eligible Xbox Game Pass subscription and, in the US, owning the Xbox Mastercard.

   For most people, the two quickest free options are the seven-day search streak and seven days of Daily Sets, since you will be doing both anyway. The level tracker on your dashboard shows exactly how close you are.

2. Collect all 100 search points every day

   3,000 points a month

   At Gold, 20 qualifying searches on Microsoft Bing fill your daily search cap. Because your laptop and phone share one allowance, split them however is convenient. There is no bonus for doing half on each.

   How you search matters more than where. Use Bing for things you would look up anyway: the weather, a recipe, a shop's opening hours, a word you have not seen before. Spread your searches across the day rather than firing off twenty in a row. Real, varied queries protect your account and feed the Star Bonus in step 6.

3. Finish the Daily Set before lunch

   About 900 points a month

   Three tiles refresh on your dashboard every day, usually a quiz, a poll and a quick article click. In the US each tile is worth 10 points; several other markets cut them to 5 points each in 2026, so check what yours pays.

   One tile is often a short quiz built around the Bing homepage photo. If you would rather not gamble on the answers, look up today's bing homepage quiz before you start. Missed days cannot be made up later, so tie the Daily Set to something you already do every morning, like your first coffee.

4. Run several streaks at once to earn Stamp Bonuses

   Up to 1,000 points at a time

   The new dashboard tracks separate streaks for Bing searches, the Daily Set, Edge browsing, Bing app check-ins and more. Keep any one of them going for seven days in a row and you earn a stamp. Collect 12 stamps and you receive a 1,000-point Stamp Bonus.

   Running three or four streaks side by side is what turns the Stamp Bonus from a rare surprise into a regular part of your month. The streak people break most often is the Bing app check-in, so put the app on your phone's home screen where you will see it.

5. Make Bing your PC's default search engine

   350 points a month at Gold

   The Default Search Bonus rewards searches made on your PC through bing.com or through your browser's address bar with Bing set as the default. It works in Edge, Chrome, Firefox or Safari. You only need to search on 14 days in the month, and they do not have to be consecutive.

   This is the easiest bonus on the list: change one browser setting, and it pays out at the start of every month after that. It also doubles as one of Gold's level-up activities.

6. Let the Bing Star Bonus build in the background

   Up to 3,500 points a month

   This is the largest single number on the Gold sheet. Microsoft bases it on your engagement and a behavioral score designed to reward genuine, organic use, and credits it at the start of the following month. The formula is not published, and payouts vary a lot: some members report a few dozen points while others see well over a thousand.

   The patterns that show up again and again in members' experiences are simple. Search every day rather than in bursts, keep queries natural and readable, use Bing through Edge or the Bing app, and never cram a week of searches into one sitting. Plan around a conservative figure (the blueprint uses 2,000) and treat anything above it as a bonus.

7. Use Xbox to close the gap

   Around 1,500 points a month for regular players

   If you game on Xbox or PC, the Rewards hub on your console, the Xbox PC app or the Xbox mobile app offers daily, weekly and monthly quests to members 18 and older. Weekly play bonuses reward you for gaming on five days of the week, and Game Pass Premium and Ultimate members unlock extra quests such as the monthly 4-pack and 8-pack plus weekly streaks. The Xbox mobile app also has daily check-in bonuses that grow with your Game Pass tier.

   One honest caveat: if you do not already pay for Game Pass, do not subscribe just for the points. The subscription costs far more than the points it earns. Without it, lean harder on steps 4 and 6.

8. Pick up the extras

   Small, but they add up

   • Daily surprise. After a few searches, Bing sometimes offers a small bonus, usually a handful of points or a free sweepstakes entry.
   • Explore and activity cards. Rotating one-off tasks on your dashboard, each worth a few points.
   • Limited-time promotions. Microsoft periodically runs offers such as a temporarily doubled search cap. Most only count if you activate them on the dashboard first.
   • Refer and Earn. You earn a point for each qualifying search made by friends who joined through your link. Microsoft has also been rolling out an Edge mobile referral worth 500 points per successful referral, capped at 7,500 a month.
   • Purchases you were making anyway. Silver and Gold members earn 10 points per dollar on select Microsoft Store hardware, and Game Pass members can earn considerably more on qualifying games and add-ons.

A 10-minute daily routine

Spreading the work across three short sessions hits every daily cap, keeps your streaks alive and gives the Star Bonus the steady, natural pattern it rewards.

1. Morning about 4 minutes

   Open the Bing app to log your check-in. Run seven searches for the day's news, weather and commute, then clear the three Daily Set tiles.

2. Midday about 3 minutes

   On your PC, run seven searches straight from the address bar so they count toward the Default Search Bonus. Tap any Explore cards waiting on your dashboard.

3. Evening about 3 minutes

   Finish your last six searches. Check in on the Xbox app, and if you game, play a Game Pass title for at least 15 minutes. Claim anything pending.

4. First five days of each month 2 minutes

   Claim your level bonus, Default Search Bonus and Star Bonus before they expire, and check for new promotions to activate.

How fast is fast? A realistic timeline

"Fast" here means reaching a 10,000-point run rate within your first couple of months, not on day one. Everyone starts at Member, and the monthly bonuses you earn are paid a month later.

Mistakes that cost points, or the whole account

Redeem your points well

Earning is only half the job. Silver members get a 100-point redemption coupon and Gold members get 200, so use it every time you cash out; it is the equivalent of free points. Gift cards give you predictable value, while sweepstakes entries are a gamble, fun but not a plan. If you would rather give the points away, the catalog also lets you donate to nonprofits.

Finally, keep your account active. Under Microsoft's terms, points can expire if you go 18 months without earning or redeeming any, which will not be an issue if you follow the routine above.
